Accommodation module
An accommodation module is a three-dimensional unit providing residential, hotel, clinical, office, civic or other accommodation within an ExoSett accommodation frame.
A module may provide a complete room or compact dwelling, or connect with modules in adjacent cells to create a larger home, workplace or other space. It is supported independently by the accommodation frame.
ExoSett uses the term cassette when an accommodation module is considered as a discrete unit for manufacture, transport, installation, removal or reuse. Once installed, it is normally more useful to think of the module as part of the building’s accommodation.
How it works
An accommodation module can be manufactured and substantially fitted out away from the building. It may include internal finishes, windows, furniture, sanitary fittings, appliances and building services before the finished module is transported to site as a cassette for installation.
The cassette connects to the accommodation frame for support and restraint, and to the service frame for access and utilities. These connections are designed so that the module can later be safely disconnected and removed as a cassette.
A single module may provide a complete room or compact dwelling. Modules in adjacent cells may also be connected to create larger homes, rooms or spaces extending across several floors.
Because the accommodation frame provides the primary structural support, an individual module can be removed as a cassette, then replaced, refurbished or relocated without removing the principal support for the modules around or above it.
