Beam
Beams are the horizontal structural members of an ExoSett frame.
Each beam connects one frame node to another at the same level. Together with the columns and frame nodes, the beams define the cells into which accommodation cassettes are installed.
How it works
Accommodation cassettes transfer their primary loads into the frame nodes rather than bearing along the beams. The beams tie the nodes together, maintain the geometry of the frame and help transfer forces through the structure.
Depending upon the design of the building, beams may also support elements such as floors, walkways, roofs, facades or bracing systems.
Beams may vary in section, material and connection detail according to their position and structural role. Steel sections are a likely starting point, but other suitable structural materials may also be used.
Because beams are connected through standardised frame nodes, individual elements can be installed, removed, inspected and reused as the building changes.
