Frame node
A frame node is the structural junction where the main parts of an ExoSett frame meet.
It provides the local connections between columns, beams and other attached elements, maintaining the geometry of the frame and transferring loads between them. A frame node may be one integrated component or several cooperating components forming a frame node assembly.
How it works
Frame nodes are positioned at defined intersections within the accommodation frame. At each location, structural members may meet vertically, horizontally and through the depth of the building. The frame node is defined by the structural role it performs there, not by a particular material or method of manufacture.
Loads from modules, beams, roofs, facades and bracing systems pass into the surrounding frame at or through the nodes. In a simple implementation, a node might be a single casting or fabricated connector. In another, primary connections, bearing seats, alignment shoes, restraints and other specialised components may cooperate to provide the required geometry, connections and load paths. Dividing these functions between components does not change their collective role as the frame node.
Where required, frame nodes may also provide or support interfaces for accommodation modules, bracing, facades, roofs or installation equipment. Connections should remain suitable for assembly, inspection and maintenance, and for disassembly or replacement where needed.
Each frame node occupies a defined address and has a structural role within the frame. The component or components that implement it may be repaired, replaced or changed without changing that address or role.
