Inter-node
An inter-node is a specialised frame node used where a structural connection is required between the principal nodes of an ExoSett frame.
Standard frame nodes are positioned at the corners of the cells. In some buildings, however, longer structural members, larger cassettes or additional attached elements may require an intermediate connection point. An inter-node provides that connection without changing the underlying cell geometry.
How it works
An inter-node may connect to columns, beams, bracing or other structural elements in the same way as a standard frame node. Depending upon its position, it may also provide attachment points for cassettes, facades, balconies, service frames or installation equipment.
One important use is the support of cassettes longer than a single standard cell. For example, a longer cassette may occupy the space of two adjacent cells and require an additional connection point between the main frame nodes.
Inter-nodes allow these variations to be accommodated using the same general structural principles as the rest of the ExoSett system. Loads remain concentrated at defined nodes and are transferred through known structural paths.
Their exact form will depend upon the implementation. Some may be full six-way nodes, while others may provide only the connections required for a particular position or purpose.
Like other ExoSett structural components, inter-nodes can be installed, removed and reused as the building changes.
