Foundation interface
The foundation interface connects an ExoSett frame to the structure that supports it.
Foundations are necessarily site-specific. Their design depends upon factors such as ground conditions, building height, loading, local regulations and the intended life and use of the building. The ExoSett frame above them can nevertheless use a standardised connection.
How it works
The foundation interface transfers loads between the lowest frame nodes and the foundations. It must resist vertical loads as well as any uplift, sliding, overturning or lateral forces identified by the structural design.
Depending upon the implementation, the interface may take the form of a base plate, pedestal, anchoring assembly or another purpose-designed component. It may also provide adjustment during installation, allowing the lowest frame nodes to be accurately positioned and levelled.
The interface should permit inspection and, where practical, replacement or removal of the frame without requiring the foundations themselves to be rebuilt.
By separating the standard frame from the site-specific foundation design, the foundation interface allows ExoSett buildings to be used with a range of foundation systems while preserving a consistent structural connection.
