Lashings
Lashings provide additional stiffness to an ExoSett frame.
They connect diagonally opposed frame nodes and help the structure resist lateral movement, twisting and racking, including when some cells are empty.
How it works
Lashings act as diagonal bracing members between frame nodes. Once installed and tensioned, they help hold the frame geometry and reduce deformation under wind and other lateral forces.
Depending on the building, lashings may use steel rods, tensioned cables or lightweight composite members. Where compatible attachment points are provided, established shipping-container lashing equipment may also be used.
Lashings are only one way of providing stiffness. Roof structures, service frames, facades, floor diaphragms and, in some designs, installed cassettes may also contribute.
Different ExoSett buildings can therefore use different combinations of stabilising systems. The important point is that the frame remains stable even when cassettes are removed or cells are left empty.
