Service frame
An ExoSett service frame is the operational structure associated with an accommodation frame. Every accommodation frame has an associated service frame providing access to its installed cassettes and supporting the routes, equipment and connections required to operate them.
It may contain walkways, corridors, stairs, lifts, service risers, pipes, cables, ducts, access bridges and maintenance areas.
The service frame is distinct from both the accommodation frame and the accommodation cassettes. It performs a different and continuing role within the building.
Access and circulation
The service frame provides the shared routes by which residents, visitors, staff, maintenance personnel and emergency services reach accommodation cassettes.
These routes may include open walkways, enclosed corridors, stairways, ramps, lifts and landings. Their form will depend on the building type, climate, level of finish and regulatory requirements.
An access bridge, threshold or other connection links the service frame to the entrance of each installed cassette.
Utility infrastructure
The service frame provides organised and accessible routes for the utilities needed by installed cassettes.
These may include electricity, water, drainage, communications, heating, cooling, ventilation, fire systems and other project-specific services.
Because these shared routes remain accessible, cables, pipework and other services can be inspected, maintained, added, removed or upgraded with minimal disruption to the accommodation.
